Junior League 4 : Bangor 1 v 3 South Antrim 3s

FOURTHS EARLY SEASON WOES CONTINUE

Bangor 4th XI entertained South Antrim 3rd XI on a bright Saturday afternoon at Roughfort near Mallusk on Saturday past.

A strong Bangor team took to the field hopeful of a positive result following their 3-0 loss the previous weekend.

Bangor started the match positively with the majority of the possession. Following some neat interplay on the left side by Chris Eccles and Keith Mulholland Bangor forced a penalty corner from the South Antrim defence. Robin Coughlin striked the ball from the corner, however this was easily dealt with by the South Antrim defence.

From this point South Antrim began to make their mark on the game, and when in possession they attacked the Bangor defence in numbers and eventually forced the first goal of the game mid way through the first half. Bangor soon found themselves a second goal down following a mix up in defence just before half time.

Chasing the game Bangor brought on Darren Cunningham and Jourdan McKee at half time and the tactics proved successful as Bangor hit back with a goal of their own. Breaking quickly from defence the ball was worked down the right to John Poole who lashed the ball from the right hand side of the circle past the South Antrim keeper to make the score 1-2.

With minutes left, Bangor pushed for an equaliser however the South Antrim team broke from defence to score their third goal and seal the victory. Final score Bangor 4s 1 South Antrim 3s 3.
