Junior League 3  : Annadale 1 v 2 Bangor

FOURTHS UPSET LEAGUE LEADERS

Bangor 4ths had a tough away match on Saturday against Annadale, the
league leaders. Bangor started well and dominated play for the first
20 minutes with good passing and movement in all areas of the pitch.

The away side were rewarded for their early efforts when Connor Savage
played a clever through ball to Chris Eccles who made no mistake with
the finish. Bangor then began to lose concentration and this resulted
in Annadale gaining the momentum and putting more pressure on the
Bangor defence. The home side's pressure eventually told when they
scored after a neat move down the right hand side. The half time
whistle blew and the teams went into the break with honours even.

Both sides started the second half exchanging chances, however neither
was able to capitalise. Annadale then put more pressure on the Bangor
defence, however the defence of Mottashaw, Kirkpatrick, Cook and
Patterson held off the ever more frequent attacks. Annadale continued
to push forward, looking for the win, but a fluent Bangor counter
attack resulted in a second goal for Chris Eccles. The home side
continued to through caution to the win, committing many men forward
in attack. As a result Bangor continued to threaten on the counter
attack and the midfield of Irvine, Reid, Scott and McManus all had
chances to extend the lead. The visitors showed a great work ethic
right throughout the team to prevent Annadale from building any
sustained period of pressure and held out for a great away win. Man of
the match was Carl McManus.
