Message from the Convenor, Raymond Parker:
I want to update you on this our Centenary season (2020-2021) and inform you of our plans for the biggest social night in our history.
Our President George Wilson and life member John Smyth have been working tirelessly for many months on the history of our wonderful club and we plan to publish by September ’21.
Our big celebration night will be the Men’s Centenary Dinner . It was to be on the 15th May ’21 at Clandeboye Lodge Hotel, Bangor. However with all the uncertainty of Covid 19 we felt it was much too risky and we have now confirmed SATURDAY 18TH SEPT 2021 at the same venue.
Although there are a number of points to finalise I wanted to give you early notice to ensure you put the date in your diary – a night not to be missed! Perhaps think about making up a table of friends or a particular team that you played on etc? Of course our plans are based on life being more normal by September, but let’s be positive and look forward to a very special evening.
We have collected a lot of e-mail addresses over recent months of members from over the years, we are particularly keen to see people who we haven’t seen for some time.
Do let me know by return (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you plan to attend, just to give us a feel for numbers and if you have any thoughts re forming a table etc. Feel free to call me any time on 07815 041409 if you have any queries.
Our Centenary season will be memorable for all the wrong reasons with all teams playing very few games , but it’s important we celebrate this great milestone and do so in style!
I look forward to hearing from you and I will be in touch with more details in the coming months.
In light of the new restrictions being introduced by the NI Executive, we would like to inform all members, at youth and senior levels, that all hockey activity at Bangor Men’s will temporarily be suspended with effect from tomorrow, Friday 16th October.
While Ulster Hockey is currently seeking clarification as to whether hockey training would be allowed, even in limited numbers, we have decided, in the best interests of all our players and coaches at all levels, that no training will be conducted during this restricted period.
We do understand, in particular at youth level, that this will be disappointing, however we will endeavour, circumstances permitting, that the same number of training sessions are delivered across the season.
The Club will continue to monitor developments and will get everyone back on the pitch as soon as it is safe to do so. Thank you for your continued understanding, stay safe and hopefully we will be back in action soon.
