The Fifths travelled to Rectory Corner
in Doagh to take on Parkview 2nd XI. They came away with a 1-1 draw, and
probably should have came away with the 2 points. Had it not been for a
keeper on fine form and a few controversial decisions from the home
umpire.
Missing Russell, Stevenson and Murray from the team the schoolboys stepped
into the breach. At the back the quartet of Neill-McCready,
Kirkpatrick, McDowell and Reid were excellent, and cannot be blamed for
the goal. There appeared to be a foul on Warren before their forward
buried the ball in the corner.
The midfield of Harper, Cook and Scott got stuck in in the first half, and
created a few good chances for the forwards, Espey and Ferguson with most
of the opportunities.
Up front Togneri did well in his short time on the pitch, Ferguson had the
better of the defenders but not the keeper, and as per usual Hamill was a
reliable outlet on the wing.
The second half was largely ruined due to the controversy surrounding many
of the umpiring decisions.
The equalising goal for Bangor was well worked but not a pretty finish. Halliday,
in the midfield, linked with Mark Campbell who produced a nice bit of
skill to get the ball into the area, Mike scrambling the ball home, his
20th of the season.
Cliftonville up next, man of the match was a close call but went to Dale
Kirkpatrick. |
