Instonians 1 v 7 Bangor

The “Mighty Fives” destroyed Instonians Fourths 7-1 at Shaws Bridge on Saturday afternoon.  Calum Togneri burned the left flank with his "team" play. Best game so far and grabbed 2 fine goals.  Although the first goal was scored by Mike Ferguson after an assist by Togneri, who held the ball up well before slipping it through to Ferguson who took a touch and blasted it through the ‘keeper.  Togneri soon made it 2-0 with a fine strike through the goalie.  At the back Alan Stevenson was once again Mr. Dependable and Ryan Garland did very well back in the middle, couple of good runs a great assist.  John Mitchell had an excellent game. No mistakes and superb link play with midfield to ease the ball out of defence.  Warren Reid at right back showed he would clearly be more comfortable in a more advanced position, but showed his versatility in a good performance.

The second-half was full of goals, three of which were from Ferguson.  He made it 3-0 with a superb shot into the roof of the net, and got his hat-trick with another well taken goal.  In the midfield Simon Murray showed excellent link play. His positional play was better in the second half and resulted in a brilliant solo run through the opposition defence to set up a critical goal!  Tim Cook was Mr. Consistent; he shirks from no tackle, distributes great balls and makes centre midfield look easy.  Paul Scott made it 5-0 with a great goal and a great celebration; he showed animalistic domination of the midfield zonal region.  Simon Harper made a difference when he rotated with Ferguson. The opposition defence could not make the switch to his different and direct approach. He was very unlucky to have hit the upright from a fine run which would have made it 6-0.  Gerry Hamill was causing problems down the right with his lightening pace and flashed some good crosses across goal.  Inst then got a goal back after some confusion between Russell in nets and Stevenson.  Apart from that he was solid in goal.  Togneri made it 6-1 and soon after Ferguson made it 7-1 with his fourth of the afternoon.

Wasn’t the hardest game the Fifths have played this season but was another two points and a step towards promotion.

Man of the Match was Calum Togneri, was simply excellent.
