Bangor 4 v 1 Harlequins

On Saturday, Bangor 3rds played host Harlequins 3rds. With Bangor having had two good performances, and wins, in a row, the team wanted to continue this. After an even opening period, Harlequins took the lead from a short corner, the ball being placed in the bottom left corner.

This spurred Bangor on, and the team began to pass the ball sharper than before. Bangor used the ball well, and began to create chances, and not long after Bangor equalised through Robin Coughlin.

The midfield of R Parker, R Coughlin and Brennan, ably assisted by Kerrigan and Brennan Junior were dominate and the rest of the first half was spent in the Harlequins half. Quins did have a number of counter attacks, but the defence of M Coughlin, Toogood, Brennan and Kerrigan dealt with these well.

Up front, S Parker, Mulholland and McIllhagga were creating chances for themselves. Parker had an effort well saved before McIllhagga gave Bangor the lead on the stroke of half time.

In the second half, Harlequins were more positive, and set about trying to upset Bangor’s passing game. This worked at times but Bangor’s midfield spread the ball well, and helped create more chances. Scott Parker increased Bangor’s lead with a well struck shot, before Mulholland reacted quickest when a pass into the area deflected onto the post, scoping the ball into the net.

A third win in a row for Bangor, and another good performance. This will set them up well for their visit to Cookstown this weekend, were hopefully their good run can continue.
