NICS 1 v 3 Bangor

Bangor’s run of good form continued last Saturday after a gritty performance at Stormont, which saw them win 3-1 against Civil Service 2nd XI.

The visitors began the match the stronger and it was not long before the Service ‘keeper was called into action by Bangor’s forwards.

Jonny McNaught broke the deadlock firing home after excellent work on the right wing from Jeremy Macafee.

Bangor continued to dominate possession but will rue the missed scoring opportunities.  However, they can take comfort from the fact that these chances are being created regularly.

Half time 0-1.

As the second half began and tempers flared on the Service team, Bangor seized the imitative as Jeremy Macafee added the finishing touch to a sweeping Bangor move.

It was not long before Macafee added his second deflecting the ball high into the net after a cross from McNaught.  A steward’s enquiry from a Service player ended in him seeing a red card following Bangor’s third goal.

Service grabbed a late consolation goal through Willie Cooper.

Bangor play Antrim 2nd XI at home this weekend and host Cork Harelquins the following weekend in the quarter final of the Irish Junior Cup.

Special Thanks to John McCalister for agreeing to umpire at very short notice.
