Annadale 3 v 4 Bangor

A fantastic second half performance from Bangor 2nd XI on Saturday saw them win 4-3 away to Annadale 2nd XI.

The match did not start well for the visitors as they saw themselves 3-0 down inside 20mins.  Bangor can have no complaints as individual errors gifted Annadale three easy goals.

Determined not to roll over and concede so early in the match Bangor took the game to ‘Dale for and were unlucky not to score at least three of their own with McNaught and Clarke testing the ‘keeper on several occasions and Gowdy’s short corner effort being tipped over the cross bar.

Half Time 3-0.

After a spirited half time chat Bangor went took the field with such determination that they scored almost immediately through a Johnny McNaught short corner.  The ball thumping off the backboard, 3-1.

It was not long before Clarke grabbed Bangor’s second.  An aerial ball out of defence from Gowdy found Parker on the left wing.  Parker’s awareness and precision allowed Clarke to tap home passed the ‘keeper from close range, 3-2.

The third goal came from Stalwart Gareth Stranaghan.  A short corner push out was returned to him and he made no mistake crashing the ball over the goal line, 3-3.

With ten minutes remaining the scores were level and Bangor took initiative determined to leave Loch Moss with more than a draw.

Excellent work from Clarke won a series of short corners and McNaught obliged with another thunderbolt making the score 3-4.

Annadale were pushing for the equaliser but there was no way through Irwin, Macafee & Scales in midfield with Macalister marshalling his back line superbly throughout and Thompson producing his typical gutsy saves as and when required.

A great result away from home against one of the top teams in Junior 1.

Special mention to Aaran McCalister for agreeing to umpire at very short notice.
