"Fantasy League 2006 Winner" |
Congratulations to
Allan Stevenson who has secured number 1 spot in this seasons
Fantasy Hockey League. His team "You will bow to me" finished 20
points ahead of nearest rival Ricky McMillan. Full update to

"McClements Cup Final" |
Congratulations to 2nd
XI Captain Gareth Stranaghan and his team on winning the
McClements Cup Final on Saturday past. Bangor triumphed in a
closely fought final against Raphoe, eventually emerging 4-3

"Ulster Juniors" |
Congratulations to 2nd
XI forwards Gareth Stranaghan and Jonny McNaught who have both
been selected in the Ulster Juniors squad for the forthcoming
Interprovincial tournament on the weekend of 21-23 April at Three
Rock Rovers HC in Dublin.
Ulster Juniors
is open to players over 18 registered in Senior League 2 and
Junior League 2 and below. |

"NI Universities Hockey" |
The NI Universities
Mens Hockey team which was coached by
George Blackwood and managed by Adam Reading has won the annual
tournament, this year staged in
Swansea. We beat
Wales 3-1, then drew
with
Scotland 3-3 and on
the final day came from 2 down to beat
England 3-2 and win
overall in goal difference. The team included Dave
McClune and Mark Daniels, who was
voted player of the tournament. |

April 2006 |
Congratulations to the
players of the 4th and 5th XI's who have secured higher league
status for next season. 4ths captain, David Shields, has guided
his team to Junior 3 after a couple of seasons in Junior 4. 5ths
captain John Mitchell has, for the third season in succession, led
his team up to a higher level of hockey. The 5ths secured the
Junior 5 title last weekend. |

Club member, Tim Cook,
will be taking part in the Icelandic Challenge July 2006 in aid of
the Ulster Cancer Foundation. He would really appreciate any
sponsorship that members of the hockey club could offer. Please

Club member and
international umpire, Chris McConkey, has kindly offered to
arrange a course for prospective umpires. This is for all who
would be interested in helping with club umpiring on Saturdays and
perhaps move on into branch umpiring. Anyone is welcome, young or

The 1st XI were first out of the hat at the
draw for the semi finals of the Kirk Cup. They were drawn against
Annadale. Both matches are being held at Banbridge on 20th
November. Our match starts at 1.30pm. A bus for supporters is
being organised and further details will follow in due course. |

Does anyone have a royal blue Bangor playing
top? It was last used by the 4ths at the end of last season, but
some are still missing. It is urgently required for the new season
so if you have one could you contact

FAMILY FUN DAY -To start off the season, on
Saturday 10th September we are holding a fun day for the whole
family. There will be mixed 6-a-side matches, bouncy castle,
face-painting, tea and
coffee, and loads of craic for all. So why not come along, and bring
the kids. Entry costs £2 per person. To play you just need to turn up, bring your club top and
a white top, and teams will be selected on the day. Games start at
2.00pm (meeting 1.15pm) and should last until 4.30pm. Any queries

From Monday 1st August, pre-season training
will be taking place on Monday and Wednesday nights at
Ballymacormick, starting at 7pm each night. All members are
encouraged to attend and any new members that you wish to invite. |

The Draw for the 2005/06 Kirk Cup has been
made. The 1st XI have been paired with Lisnagarvey, Antrim and
Portadown. |

The club AGM was held in Pickie Bowling Club, with
a strong turnout of members. The meeting ran smoothly with only one
or two issues requiring discussion. A new committee was elected, and
you can see the names of the office bearers in the Contacts page.
