Bangor 3rds 5 v 1 NICS 3rds |
|
On Saturday, Bangor 3rds entertained ten man Civil Service. Bangor started brightly, making their extra man count. Their passing and movement left Service chasing shadows. Simon Cox opened the scoring, finishing high into net, after good work down the right from Lyall. With Bangor dominating it was only a matter of time before a second was added. This came from Robin Coughlin, set up by his brother Michael after another flowing team move. Bangor took their foot of the gas, allowing Service to enjoy some position and create some chances, however the Bangor keeper was equal to all thrown at him. Bangor’s third came on the counter attack, a swift move saw the ball go from defence to attack in seconds for Lyall to finish neatly. 3-0 half time. The second half started evenly with both sides trying to attack. Service pulled one back early on, giving them some belief. Both sides were playing well and the introduction of Johnny Todd brought some experience to Bangor. Todd had a hand in two goals, firstly setting up goal scoring defender Michael Coughlin. This goal was either a wicked deflection, or an outrageous bit of skill (the debate is on going), as the ball looped over the keeper, for his third of the season. His second assist lead to Cox grabbing his second, finishing low in the corner. Final score 5-1 to Bangor and another good performance and win. No man of the match vote was taken, but it could have been several, including Cox for his double, M Coughlin for his effort for goal of the season. Thanks to A Walker and M Claney for umpiring. |
