Banbridge 2nds 10 v 1 Bangor 2nds

The seconds recorded their worst result in many years last Saturday afternoon when they were totally humiliated by this seasons Corporate Coaching Junior League One champions Banbridge seconds, going down by a massive ten goals to one.  And no, this was not an April fool, despite the date being 1st April.

In a season that has gone so well for the seconds, this was obviously a performance to forget.  The home side were three up within the opening 14 minutes, and on the day were just too good for the Bangor side.  The visitors were given a lesson in finishing and some sublime passing hockey by the talented and experienced home side.  They capitalised time and again on hesitancy and elementary mistakes throughout the seconds ranks.  For the record, Bill Clarke scored the seconds goal in the first half from a penalty corner award.

No two days in hockey are the same will be the message Gareth Stranaghan will be telling his troops this week as they put last Saturday behind them and prepare for this weekends McClements Cup final against Raphoe seconds.  The team also still has every chance of a high league finish, and whilst Saturday was a rude awakening, there have been too many good performances this season that far outweight it.

Many thanks to David Glasgow for staying on after the firsts fixture to kindly umpire.  For obvious reasons the players did not have a player of the match award after the game.
